How do prejudices arise? How do they spread? Join us inside the exhibition “Typical” for an evening of conversation and a guided tour with artist Thierry Geoffroy / Colonel.
For more than 40 years, artist Thierry Geoffroy aka Colonel has worked with themes such as prejudice, stereotypes, and how we perceive “the others.” His work is now collected in the book A Propulsive Retrospective, and this evening, you will meet him in the exhibition “Typical". There will be a guided tour, a conversation with the artist, and critical dance.
In the work The Anatomy of Prejudice, a central part of the exhibition, he explores how prejudice manifests in everyday life. In the installation The Jungle, thousands of students have shared their own experiences and prejudices over the past seven years. We will take a closer look at the works and hear the artist’s own thoughts and reflections.
Light refreshments will be served. The event is free and open to everyone. The conversation will be held in English. Welcome!
Thierry Geoffroy aka Colonel is a French-Danish internationally known artist. The book A Propulsive Retrospective (Museum Villa Stuck) brings together his artistic work from the past 40 years.
His work The Anatomy of Prejudice is a central part of the exhibition Typical. Through films from the streets of Oslo, he examines how prejudice is expressed in everyday life. The installation The Jungle maps how prejudices spread through digital communication. The work consists of contributions from thousands of students who have shared their own experiences and reflections. The result is a continuously growing, complex landscape of perspectives.
The Anatomy of Prejudice is both an artwork and research material, and provides a unique insight into one of the most pressing issues of our time.
