Where do prejudices come from? How have prejudices developed over the past seven years, in step with changes in society? We invite you into the exhibition Typical for a conversation with the artist Thierry Geoffroy aka Colonel, followed by a panel discussion.
For seven years, Oslo Museum, together with the artist Thierry Geoffroy aka Colonel, has explored prejudice in the exhibition Typical. Through the work “The Anatomy of Prejudice”, thousands of students have visited and written down prejudices in the installation “The Jungle”. What kinds of prejudices do we find? And where do these prejudices come from?
We invite you into the exhibition for a conversation with Thierry Geoffroy, where he presents his life’s work and reflections on his art. This is followed by a panel discussion about how prejudices have developed over the past seven years and how they have changed in step with developments in society.
The event is free and open to everyone. Welcome!
Thierry Geoffroy aka Colonel is a French-Danish internationally known artist. The book A Propulsive Retrospective (Museum Villa Stuck) brings together his artistic work from the past 40 years.
His work The Anatomy of Prejudice is a central part of the exhibition Typical Them. Through films from the streets of Oslo, he examines how prejudice is expressed in everyday life. The installation The Jungle maps how prejudices spread through digital communication. The work consists of contributions from thousands of students who have shared their own experiences and reflections. The result is a continuously growing, complex landscape of perspectives.
The Anatomy of Prejudice is both an artwork and research material, and provides a unique insight into one of the most pressing issues of our time.
