Every spring the street outside the museum is closed to car traffic and filled with children’s games and activities: jump rope and tic-tac-toe, toy car tracks, street dance, Chinese jump rope, street football, street chess, and screen printing. We play games like "kast på stikka", marbles, gariir, gillidanda, and hopscotch. If you don’t know the rules, our play facilitators will teach you.

The event is free.

The Street Play Festival is a collaboration between Oslo Museum, Kvinner i bevegelse, Grønland foreldre og barn gruppe, Growlab, Circular Ways, Forandringshuset, Norske Kvinners Sanitetsforening, Oslo Røde Kors, and KIGO – Kultur i Gamle Oslo. Funded by Bergesenstiftelsen and Oslo kommune.

Intercultural Museum

The Intercultural Museum is located on the former premises of the old Grønland police station. Today, the former cells are used as unique exhibition spaces.

Through engaging exhibitions, you gain insight into current social topics, arts, and culture. Explore your own prejudices, challenge your ideas, and expand your understanding of other cultures.
